Building a Storm-Proof Home

May 10th, 2022

Intense storms are becoming more common, as climate change increases.  Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, high winds and extreme heat and cold seem to be accelerating in both frequency and intensity. In response, resilient design of homes is a developing practice.

According to the Resilient Design Institute, this refers to intentionally designing buildings, landscapes, communities and regions to adapt to a wide variety of impacts from climate change. The Institute’s mission is to help every homeowner have their “DREAM” home, which stands for “durable, resilient, energy-efficient, affordable and modern.” This article by Michele Lerner in the Washington Post provides the details.

Here at Sal Paone Builders, we have always focused on building energy-efficient homes of the highest quality.  Staying up to date on new building and design trends, and adapting to the needs of our buyers, will always be our priority.  Keep an eye on our website for our newest designs, communities and homes availability.
