A Partnership Starts Up on a Roof

November 7th, 2014

Anyone who knows Sal Paone Builders also knows that we have long-running relationship with Kathi Colletti, Broker of Vanguard Realty Associates.

This partnership started, literally, up on a roof more than 35 years ago. It was May 1978, and Kathi was driving down Limekiln Pike in the heart of Maple Glen in Upper Dublin Township. At the time, Kathi, a Realtor with Century 21, was looking for a new home for herself. She noticed some new construction going up, stopped to check it out and noticed a guy swinging a hammer on a roof. She shouted up to him and asked who was building the homes. “I am,” they guy replied. “Want to buy one?” He climbed down and introduced himself as Sal Paone, Sr.

Sal walked Kathi through the available lots and homes in various stages of completion, noting that 17 single family homes were planned. Sal showed Kathi Lot #7, his favorite because of the flat terrain and line of mature trees along the back property line. He showed Kathi a model under construction and said he could build it on Lot #7. “OK, I’ll write you a check for a deposit,” was Kathi’s reply. Sal directed Kathi to a realtor friend of his and she drove off to find him and deliver the check. It was really that simple, and that spontaneous. Kathi moved in, raised a family and enjoyed her Paone home for more than 20 years. Along the way, she developed a professional relationship with the growing Sal Paone Builder company, eventually leaving Century 21 and opening S. Paone Realty, which she managed for 19 years. The business was later sold to Prudential, but Kathi continues her partnership with Paone today under the umbrella of Vanguard Realty Associates. “It’s been a great ride,” she says. “I’ve gone from talking to a guy on a roof, to enjoying three decades of partnership with my dear friend, Sal Paone.” Learn how this wonderful partnership can benefit you.
